Game Start Merits

These merits can only be purchased when you are creating your character.

Debt- Flaw

Gain 1-3 points. Debt represents pre-existing boon ownership to another kindred in the domain. We will roll dice before the game to find out what is owed. You can take up to three points of debt. Each point equates to two owed minor boons. Each point gives you 1 freebie.

If you take 1 point of Debt you can owe 1 major or 2 minors.

If you take 2 points of Debt you can owe 2 Majors or 4 Minors

If you take 3 points of Debt you can owe 3 majors or 6 minors.

Impressive Item- Merit

Costs 1 point. Each point spent on Impressive items gives you a +4 skill item, or a category 4 weapon or Armor. A character receives a number of +1 and +2 items equal to their resources at creation but if you want more impressive items you have to buy them with this.

On the Road -Merit

Costs 3 Points. Character starts on a Road other than Humanity.

Sitting on the Branches -Merit

Costs 1 Point Character starts on a Branch of their current Road.

Amnesia -Flarit

Costs 0 Points The staff makes your sheet.

Derangement - Flaw

Gain 2 Points A derangement has a description (O.C.D, schizophrenia, hebephrenia) from the DSM-IV and is roleplayed however the player wishes. Its game effect is that the character has two minus one penalties to all challenges involving two virtues chosen at the time the derangement is added to the sheet. These penalties can be applied to the same virtue giving a grand total of -2 to all virtue challenges involving that virtue. The penalties from multiple derangements stack. The player gets 2 freebies to spend if they take a derangement at character creation but only for the first derangement. The character also cannot take the meditation action.

Camarilla or Sabbat Sympathizer - Flaw

Gain 1 point Your character is known to frequently defend the Camarilla or Sabbat’s political positions and forms of government. People don’t trust you because of it. This will be announced at the beginning of each game.
