Countermagic allows its caster to stop magical effects before they even happen. If a magical effect is used on a wielder of Countermagic they make a reflexive mental challenge minus or plus traits based upon their level in Countermagic. If the mental challenge is successful the effect does not get to be used on them.

Countermagic can also be used on magical effects other are using on themselves, but you must be holding your action in order to intercept their use of magic. You may also break wards and other rituals by engaging the ritual in a mental challenge vs. the Wards stats.
