Celestial chorus rotes

One Song

Choir rotes become more powerful the more choristers join the song. There are 3 songs, each is its own rote. Choristers can join the song with the same song or a different song, the scaling effect on the number of singers does not necessarily mean they all must sing the same song. Each song costs a Q to maintain per turn. A mage can sing all 3 songs at once but they do not scale if only the mage themselves is singing. When 1 Mage activates a song, anyone else in the scene who knows one may immediately activate it using their action for the turn. To continue the song the mage can take no actions but sing, they can still move and defend themselves normally.

Glory

Type: Basic Paradox: +1 if witnessed Challenge: Socials(Arete) vs 10 traits Cost: 1Q/turn Duration: 1 scene

  • Short cast: As long as the chorister does nothing but sing(They may still defend themselves, but may take no other actions) they may grant a (prime) trait bonus to one attribute to (prime) targets. Each chorister who joins the song increases the number of targets by their (prime) and allows the bonus to apply to an additional attribute.
  • Long cast: N/A

Wrath

Type: Basic Paradox: +1 if witnessed Challenge: Mentals(Arete) vs 10 traits Cost: 1Q/turn Duration: 1 scene

  • Short cast: The Chorister causes the scene to erupt in divine fire centered on a pillar at their location, Anyone not singing within 5 steps of takes 1 automatic aggravated damage per Chorister singing when the song starts and during the explosives tick, each new singer creates a new pillar of damage. ( Up to a max of the highest singers Prime+1.) the damage can be soaked but not defended, it is environmental. For non choristers Singing costs an action and can be done with a celerity equivalent action, as joining in the song does not count as spell casting, curiously non choristers can spend an action to sing, to render themselves immune, though it does not add to the damage by making a Performance check (Diff(highest singer’s prime+2), they also can't do anything but sing if they wish to take no damage.

Forgiveness

Type: Basic Paradox: +1 if witnessed Challenge: Mentals(Arete) vs 10 traits Cost: 1Q/round. Duration: 1 scene

  • Short cast: The Choir sings the song of Forgiveness and anyone present must make a Self Control difficulty Equal to the Number of Choristers Singing +2. Failure causes (2 things to happen).
    • 1) The target to be able to change their path instantly to Humanity or Heavens for 1 exp. If the target has no path and they fail they begin crying unable to act until the song ends, damage breaks this effect.
    • 2). If the choir wishes they can change a beings very nature with this song. The leader must make a test with difficulty equal to the target's willpower. They gain 5 traits for every Choir member singing with them (and +1 for any other person joining in) If the check is successful the Choir may choose 3 natures from the list and the target must select one of them as their new nature. They are left stunned and speechless, unable to act. ( If the chorister attacks or kills the target ( or allows another to do so) in this period of being stunned, they forever lose the ability to use this spell, however so long as the newly changed target accepts forgiveness and does not act against the choirsters, they are immune to damage from wrath until the scene ends.
