The dry riverbed held no mercy,

From whence a flood of devastation poured

Now a thirst of revelation lies, barren and hot.

As I walked, the river forked

A mass of brass and clockwork lie there staring upward, an eyelike violet gem blinking in the moonlight.

I asked him if he were a messenger sent to put me on the path

"I am a messenger no more."

"Can you show me the way?"

" I can't, and if I could, I wouldn't. I would not inflict this on anyone.

" Inflict what?"

" The Longing."

Its head tilted back and it answered me no longer.

I walked further down the bed and when I looked back it was gone.

In that moment, I felt it.. the longing. I looked up as it had, The spine stretched out in front of me.. and I felt it

.

The longing.
