Demon

Each Demon is a Fallen Angel. At least that's what they claim, but anyone who has been unlucky enough to gaze upon their true form knows that they certainly don't look like any Angel they have read about in books.

Demons have max traits of 18 16 14. They have 12 base health levels and 15 Aether(Their blood Equivalent) They also have a rating called Cover (15 max), which determines how well they are blending in and pretending to be human. Demons have Discipline level retests in all Attributes.

Cover is accrued by making deals with humans ( Or other supernaturals) and taking parts of their personality, appearance, soul etc. for themselves. Once a Demon Spends a Point of Cover it is gone. Once a Demon Spends a Point of Cover it is gone. Cover can be accumulated by taking the action Grant Wishes.

Some Demons can grant wishes, others just perform tasks as part of these Faustian Pacts. A Demon cannot use powers to convince a being to take part in a Faustian pact. A demon that loses all of its Cover is forced into its Apocalypse Form. A demon can also spend 7 cover and enter its Apocalypse form as an action. This is usually a bad plan for the demon and everyone else around as it tends to cause Angels to show up.

Demon Max Bodies Max Cover/body Max Traits Aether Health Starting Buildpoints
Demon 3(6 with alt) 10 18/16/14 15(Start)/25(Max) 12(Base) 10
Angel 1(assigned Face) N/A Reconfigured per mission(base is the same as demons) 15(Standard config) 20(Standard config) Generally 20

Your average demon will have 6 Embeds and 1-2 Exploits. The Exploits will both come from their Incarnation.

Demon Traits

Willpower: Angels and Demons aren't Human; they don't have Willpower. They have a single pool called Aether; All their Abilities and Skill retests run off of Aether. Demons restore one Aether per night, and can hijack it from infrastrucutre. For demons Aether maxes at 25.

Virtues: Angels lack Virtues, again because they have no link to humanity. All attempts to appeal to an angel's Virtues will fail. A Demon However falls because they have developed a virtue, Demons have only 1 virtue, as normal rated 1-5, from: Compassion, Courage, Self-Control, and Conscience. Attempts to target a demon's virtues target their single virtue. If their is a type mismatch, for example trying to make a demon with only courage fail a compassion roll their virtue counts double. Virtues for demons cost (8 XP*rating) and start at 1.

Nature and Demeanor: Demons still Possess Nature and Demeanor.

Time and Actions: Demons get 2 actions per month and one additional based on their Agenda/Incarnation.

  • Inquisitor: Monitor or Train or Scourge
  • Integrator: Grow, Defend or Monitor Influence
  • Saboteur: Search For or Attack Or craft
  • Tempters: Grow background, Research, Meditation

Demons Powers

Demons Powers are based on their Incarnation (Who they were as an angel). Powers are broken up into Embeds and Exploits - Embeds are powers that utilize the underpinnings of the universe. Exploits, break those underpinnings in fantastic ways to create effects. Exploits are similar in principle to Punk Thaumaturgy.

Embeds, Exploits and Modifications: Embeds are simple powers. Exploits are more powerful changes of Fate. Embeds cost 10 Experience per. Exploits cost 16. Modifications are new weapons gear and objects added to the characters Apocalypse form. All embeds and exploits are broken into the 4 trees below.

Manifest: Manifesting a Modification costs a point of cover, and an additional point if they do so within the vision of a human. Walking around with it after manifesting is fine, they only pay the second cover cost if doing so in front of someone. The Demon may reflexively Manifest one Modification when they are attacked or at the start of initiative if they so choose.

OPERATIONAL LOCK: Some embeds and exploits have the tag (OPERATIONAL LOCK) Indicating an operational restriction placed upon the embed/exploit in their body by the God-Machine. Demons often seek other supernaturals help to try to free themselves from operational locks set by the god-machine, but as of yet none have been successful.

Starting characters: Gain 1 Exploit and 2 Embeds all of which come from their Incarnation. They gain 10 points of Modifications.

Ears of the Machine

When Playing a Demon in a Mixed game. The first time any player accuses you of being a Demon (even jokingly) you lose one Cover. The first time a player finds out you are a demon each session, you lose two Cover. If ¾ of the game ever learns that you are a Demon you instantly lose all your cover and are on the run from the God Machine. (Confidants are fine) The God Machine is always listening. Even when he doesn't realize it.

  • Ghouling: They can't be Ghouled but will often pretend
  • Embracing: They cant be embraced. You will take an Ag if you try
